MAYO Communications, a full service publicity firm kicked off a successful first-time Celebrity Shoe Throwing event that should inspire and get Hollywood celebrities off on the right foot in this economically troubled tinsel town.

Billed as the Janeen Mansour Celebrity Shoe Drive to benefit needy families of the Salvation Army, the event attracted more than 100 people and netted several large bins of shoes (about 75 pairs).

“I am here throwing shoes for a good cause,” said Kim Kardashian, reality TV show, “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” who came with Cheetah Girl Adrienne Bailon. “ I have never throw shoes before, except at someone I refuse to name. I love coming to these kinds of charities with a great cause, the Salvation Army.”

Most of the shoes donated and tossed at the Rancho Park Golf Course driving range were brand new Shoes. In fact there were nearly three dozen upscale tennis shoes donated by Ed Hardy, who also threw shoes in the men’s competition (January 10, 2009.)

Dubai.TV Celebrity Talk Show Host Janeen Mansour was MC, and threw the first pair of shoes, which turned out to be red and white, heavy duty, barely worn, Miami Heat’s SHAG tennis shoes. “No other non-profit organization has the range of social services to help the needy like the Salvation Army,” explained Mansour. “This was a fun event, and everyone had a great time for a good cause. We should do this more often.”
